sharda

a visit to sharda situated in deep and lovely woods on the bank of neelum river across loc in pak kashmir was simly out of this world experience..the ancient sharda temple dedicated to godess of learning, scholarship ,knowledge, language and articulation continues to stand proud for the last 2000 years...the legendry sharda university the fountainhead of kashmirs intellect was also situated here in those far off days.

few months have gone by , since the last post...in between beautiful spring gave way to hot and now humid summer..i continued to follow my pursuits , working for a living,composing poems ,drawing sketches and living generally...started a column in a daily paper on a weekly basis..can be read on all sundays by logging on to www.kashmiruzma.net the column is titled 'hasilezarb' and is in urdu.

it was something of a revelation.sunny afternoon in the hills and suddenly from nowhere clouds appear on the horizon and it begins to rain...rain leads to a gush of hail...an icy wind blows in every direction....and lo and behold...the beautiful rainbow..nature is the original painter....painting perfect.

selected two interesting images..they were clicked in the evening while clouds hung everywhere ready to burst in to torrential rains....threatening the blossoms on the apricot trees...clouds did burst and it is raining since in torrents,without letup...what happened to the blossoms...did they withstand the terror of rains...or..did they perish as every beautiful thing has to perish.....to make way for more beauty..

it was a holiday...and natural to move out even with clouds ready to pour.a trip to the shrine in the montanes always invigorates...the saint had moved up from the planes in to the montanes seeking the truth...spreading light all around..people continue to flock to this place..seeking peace and divine help...shrine has been here for more than 200 years now..
